How to prepare drawings for CNC machining quotation
Learn what information your drawing should include to get fast, accurate CNC machining quotation. Material, tolerance, surface finish and key notes explained.

How to Prepare Drawings for Accurate CNC Machining Quotation
Clear engineering drawings are the foundation of accurate CNC machining quotes. Missing information will lead to back‑and‑forth emails and delay your project schedule.
Whether you send STEP, STP, DWG, DXF or PDF files, please include these key details:
1. Material requirement
Specify material grade, for example: Aluminum 6061‑T6, 7075, 304 stainless steel, brass. If you do not confirm material, our engineer will give a general‑purpose suggestion for reference.
2. Tolerance requirements
Mark critical dimensional tolerances on drawing. Non‑critical dimensions can follow standard manufacturing tolerance.
3. Surface finishing
Note post‑processing: anodizing color, bead blasting, powder coating, passivation or painting.
4. Quantity Tell us prototype sample quantity, small‑batch or mass production. Unit cost changes a lot with order volume. ## 5. Special notes Thread specification, deburring requirement, sharp‑edge removal, assembly requirements.
Common file format we accept ‑ 3D files:STEP, STP, IGES ‑ 2D drawing:PDF, DWG, DXF
Send your complete drawings via our contact form. Our engineering team will review and reply within one working day.
